LION VOLINZ


Lior Volinz je raziskovalec, ki se posveča preučevanju varnostnih in nadzornih tehnologij ter praks, pa tudi urbanih konfliktov, s poudarkom na njihovih socialnih in političnih posledicah. Trenutno dela kot podoktorski raziskovalec v raziskovalni skupini za kriminaliteto in družbo na Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) v Bruslju, kjer se njegovo delo osredotoča na urbane nadzorne tehnologije ter nadzor protestov in nestrinjanja. Trenutno je del projekta SOS4Democracy, ki ga koordinira Inštitut za kriminologijo pri Pravni fakulteti Univerze v Ljubljani. Doktoriral je na Univerzi v Amsterdamu (2019), kjer je raziskoval spreminjajočo se krajino izraelskih varnostnih storitev v zasedenem vzhodnem Jeruzalemu. Lior je diplomiral na Univerzi v Tel Avivu in magistriral na Univerzi v Ljubljani. Poleg akademskega dela je Lior član skupine Een Andere Joodse Stem (A Different Jewish Voice), skupine, ki se zavzema za mir in pravičnost v Izraelu/Palestini ter za izkoreninjenje vseh oblik rasizma v Belgiji. 


Lior Volinz is a researcher devoted to the study of security and surveillance technologies and practices, as well as urban conflicts, with a strong interest on their social and political implications. Lior is currently working as a post-doctoral researcher at the Crime & Society research group of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in Brussels, where his work addresses urban surveillance technologies and the policing of protests and dissent. He is currently a part of the SOS4Democracy project, coordinated by the Institute of Criminology at the Law Faculty, University of Ljubljana. Lior earned his doctoral degree at the University of Amsterdam (2019), where he researched the changing landscape of Israeli security provision in occupied East Jerusalem. Lior is a graduate of Tel Aviv University (BA) and the University of Ljubljana (MA). In addition to his academic work, Lior is a part of the group Een Andere Joodse Stem (A Different Jewish Voice), a group committed to peace and justice in Israel/Palestine and to the eradication of all forms of racism in Belgium.
