BARBARA SURK

Barbara Šurk je dolgoletna dopisnica časnika Delo in ameriške agencije The Associated Press z Bližnjega vzhoda. Petnajst let je preživela v regiji in poročala o ameriški invaziji na Irak, izraelski okupaciji palestinskih ozemelj in palestinski intifadi, vstajah Arabske pomladi proti avtokracijam od Egipta do Jemna, državljanski vojni v Siriji, nastanku Isisa, okrepitvi moči arabskih držav Perzijskega zaliva in Irana. Po vrnitvi z Bližnjega vzhoda je za New York Times poročala z Balkana, v Bruslju je bila urednica portala Politico. Po študiju na ljubljanski Filozofski fakulteti, je študirala v ZDA na univerzah Duke v severni Karolini, Tennessee v Knoxvillu in Stanford v Kaliforniji. Iz Amerike, je poročala za časnik Dnevnik in občasno tudi za RTV SLO. Trenutno živi in dela v Franciji.

Barbara Šurk is a long-time correspondent for the Slovenian daily Delo and the US news agency The Associated Press in the Middle East. She spent 15 years in the region reporting on the US invasion of Iraq, the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and the Palestinian intifada, the Arab Spring uprisings against autocracies from Egypt to Yemen, the civil war in Syria, the rise of ISIS, and the strengthening of Arab Gulf states and Iran. After returning from the Middle East, she reported for the New York Times from the Balkans and was editor of the Politico portal in Brussels. After studying at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana, she studied in the US at Duke University in North Carolina, Tennessee in Knoxville, and Stanford in California. From the US, she reported for the daily newspaper Dnevnik and occasionally for RTV SLO. She currently lives and works in France.
