CHARLIE THOMAS

Charlie Thomas je organizator/aktivist in raziskovalec iz Velike Britanije. Na festivalu Grounded bo govoril o lastnih izkušnjah ter posledicah organiziranja proti orožarski industriji, ki dobavlja orožje Izraelu. Zaradi ene od akcij, v kateri so aktivisti industrijski kompleks podizvajalca orožarske družbe Elbit prelili z rdečo barvo in uničili del opreme, je pristal celo v zaporu. Govoril bo tudi o napetostih med družbenim gibanjem za palestinsko osvoboditev in sindikalnim gibanjem ter o iskanju možnosti za sodelovanje med njima v luči okrepljene državne represije.

Charlie Thomas is an organizer/activist and researcher from the United Kingdom. At the Grounded festival, he will talk about his own experiences and the consequences of organizing against the arms industry that supplies weapons to Israel. He even ended up in prison because of one of the actions in which activists poured red paint over the industrial complex of Elbit, a subcontractor of the arms company, and destroyed some of the equipment. He will also talk about the tensions between the social movement for Palestinian liberation and the trade union movement, and the search for opportunities for cooperation between them in light of increased state repression.
