Dr. Rajko Muršič je diplomiral iz etnologije in filozofije (1991), magistriral iz kulturne antropologije (1995) in doktoriral iz etnologije (1998). Leta 2009 je bil izvoljen v naziv rednega profesorja. Bil je glavni urednik Glasnika SED in njegove knjižne zbirke (1994-1997) ter ustanovitelj ter urednik oddelčne zbirke Zupaničeva knjižnica (1999-2002). Je član dobrega ducata mednarodnih (osem let je bil član IO IUAES) in domačih strokovnih društev (od 2012 do 2018 predsednik združenja Kula), teles in uredništev ter redno sodeluje pri pripravi mednarodnih znanstvenih srečanj in poletnih šol (Creole IP in poletne šole v grški Konitsi). Raziskovalno se med drugim ukvarja s politično antropologijo in mladimi ter mladinskimi politikami. Je aktivist, ki se redno udeležuje protestov in drugih oblik upora, v javnosti in med študenti je znan po podpori vsem oblikam alternativne kulture.

He was editor-in-chief of the Glasnik SED and its book series (1994–1997), as well as the founder and editor of the Zupaničeva knjižnica series (1999–2002). He is a member of a good dozen international (he served on the Executive Committee of the IUAES for eight years) and domestic professional associations (chairman of the Kula Association from 2012 to 2018), bodies and editorial boards, and regularly contributes to the organisation of international academic conferences and summer schools (Creole IP and summer schools in Konitsa, Greece). His research focuses, amongst other things, on political anthropology, young people and youth policies. He is an activist who regularly takes part in protests and other forms of resistance, and is known among the general public and students for his support for all forms of alternative culture.
